Vespa GTV 300

The Bold Side of a Timeless Legend

Our Official Bike Review

Vespa GTV 300 – Heritage Made Fearless

Since its debut in 2006, the Vespa GTV has been the ambassador of purest classicism in the Vespa family. Its defining signature — the “faro basso” low headlamp on the front mudguard and the exposed metal tubular handlebar — are direct throwbacks to the most iconic Vespas ever made. Now, the GTV 300 combines those legendary design cues with the most powerful engine ever fitted to a Vespa and an ultra-modern technology package. The result is an extraordinary combination of tradition and boldness — the large body offers enhanced rider comfort and complete control, even on longer distances, honouring the iconic touring nature of the famous “Vespone.”

Performance with Purpose

The GTV 300 is powered by a liquid-cooled 278cc HPE single-cylinder engine with 4-valve timing and electronic port fuel injection, producing 17.5 kW (23.8 HP) at 8,250 rpm and 26 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm — the highest performing engine ever fitted on a Vespa. A CVT automatic transmission with dry centrifugal clutch and vibration dampers delivers seamless power, while Piaggio’s patented RISS Start & Stop system cuts the engine silently at standstill and restarts it instantly when you twist the throttle. Fuel consumption sits at 30.3 km/l from an 8.5-litre tank (including 2-litre reserve), giving you genuine touring range. Twin 220mm stainless steel disc brakes front and rear with ABS and ASR traction control provide class-leading stopping power and stability in all conditions.

Rider-Focused Tech

The GTV’s fully digital instrument panel maintains an elegant circular shape and is connected to the tubular handlebar via an original cantilevered bracket, encased within a bold, racing-inspired flyscreen. The digital display provides a rich array of travel information at a glance. When connected to a smartphone via the Vespa MIA system (available as an accessory), the dash also manages call and message notifications, as well as music information. Keyless ignition lets you start the engine without inserting a key, while the Bike Finder function and remote seat opening add everyday convenience. A USB port comes standard inside the glovebox, and full LED lighting — including the characteristic low headlamp — ensures maximum visibility day and night. Euro 5 compliant.

Design: Aggression Meets Elegance

This is where the GTV stands alone in the Vespa range. The “faro basso” sits on the front mudguard exactly where it did on the legendary Vespas of the 1950s, while the exposed metal tubular handlebar completes the vintage silhouette. In the centre of the front shield, the unmistakable “tie” is enriched with striking orange trim and a series of side slits that emphasise the GTV’s sporty spirit. The two-tone seat carries a racing look, with its rear section ready for an optional hard cover in body colour — echoing the typical fairings of racing Vespas. Five-spoke matt black wheel rims with orange graphics on the rim, matt black details throughout, and bold body graphics running diagonally across each side complete a look that is equal parts heritage and attitude. Built on the sheet steel monocoque body at 1,975 mm long and 775 mm wide, with a 790 mm seat height and 1,375 mm wheelbase.

Is It for You?

The Vespa GTV 300 is for riders who demand the full power and technology of the GTS platform, but wrapped in a design that nothing else on the road can match. It celebrates the bold side in all of us — part racing heritage, part grand tourer, entirely Vespa. If you want 17.5 kW of HPE performance, dual-disc ABS braking with traction control, and a personality that turns heads before the engine even starts, the GTV delivers. Note: the GTV 300 sits above LAMS approval, so it’s for fully licensed riders ready to own the most distinctive Vespa in the lineup.
